Silvertip Fir – The Alpine Showstopper

Silvertip Firs are the tree for those who want something truly unique. With their elegant spacing between branches, silvery-green needles, and strong structure, they have a striking, almost vintage look that shows off ornaments beautifully. Many consider Silvertips the “designer” Christmas tree for their natural, airy style.

Where They Grow: Silvertips thrive in high-elevation mountain ranges, and ours come directly from Lake Tahoe. Their growing conditions are extreme — snow, cold temperatures, and rugged terrain — which makes them more challenging to harvest than other firs.

Growth Rate: Like Noble Firs, Silvertips are slow growers, averaging about 12 inches per year in their alpine environment. It can take a decade or more for them to reach the 6–8 foot height most families love.

Fun Facts:

  • Silvertips are sometimes lovingly nicknamed the “Charlie Brown Tree” for their whimsical, open-branch style — the very look that makes them perfect for displaying treasured ornaments.

  • Their distinctive silver-blue needle tips shimmer under lights, giving them a magical glow.

  • Because they only grow in limited, high-elevation regions, Silvertips are considered rare and highly sought-after each season.

If a Noble Fir is the classic Christmas tradition, the Silvertip is the whimsical showstopper — rare, charming, and unforgettable.
